Shhhh. Here's a secret.

Christmas Day is the Beginning of Christmas, not the end!

Almost everyone, from marketers to Instagrammers, believe the 12 Days of Christmas are the days leading up to Christmas day.

The secret is…

Are you ready to be surprised?

The 12 Days of Christmas begin on Christmas day!

The 1st Day of Christmas is Christmas Day

The 12 Days of Christmas

The 12 Days of Christmas aren't a way to sell gift packages (we've all seen the 12 Days of Christmas beer collection or holiday socks...). These days have been celebrated for more than 1400 years with feasting, festivities, frivolity, all leading up to 12th Night (yes, just like Shakespeare's play!), which in most traditions is the eve of the feast of Epiphany.

The Real 12 days of Christmas

The 12 Days of Christmas begin on Christmas day and continue until January 5, the eve of Epiphany, which is a celebration of the visit of the Magi and the revelation of Christ's divinity.
