3 Sanity-Saving Strategies for Home-Selling During the Holidays
Even in a seller’s market, as we are in now, home sales often slow over the holidays and winter months. This can be an advantage for home buyers not wanting to compete with multiple offers, but what does it mean for home sellers? And how can we keep the magic and mirth of the season throughout the process?
Below you’ll find three strategies sure to save your sanity during holiday home-selling.
Think Outside The Box
Besides targeted marketing to eager buyers trying to get ahead of the busy spring market, there are many creative ways to attract more buyers to your home.
Or consider organizing a neighborhood parade of homes for the holidays to showcase your house.
Natural scents of sugar cookies or pine in the air won’t hurt IF it’s not overwhelming. What better season to visualize yourself at home by the fire snuggled up with your family under a cozy blanket?
Use the Season!
While it may be more challenging to keep things picked up and organized, staging may be less of a concern with your holiday decorations adding cheer throughout your home. However, we suggest you stick with more natural décor like pinecones and greenery and please ensure your paths are clear inside and outside your home (no icy sidewalks, please).
Your real estate agent and/or stager can help you minimize the clutter and distraction to ensure the features of your home are highlighted.
One word of warning: As my daughter says of our house, we don’t want your home to look like Christmas barfed all over it! The goal is to make your home look as spacious and inviting as possible.
Have Realistic Expectations
A final consideration, whether buying or selling over the holidays, is the availability of realtors and mortgage lenders. While we try to make ourselves available to our clients 24/7, we are known to take a vacation every now and then. Be sure your real estate team will be available to you to coordinate showings, inspections, and the appraisal.
Happy Holiday Hunting!
